Poppy’s Journey: From the Streets to Safety

Poppy’s story is one of resilience, love, and second chances. It’s clear from her worn and weary appearance that she wasn’t given the care she deserved. Allowed to have multiple litters with no safe place to call home, she found herself wandering the streets, running in and out of traffic on the busy roads of Houston Lake near Carl Vinson and Russell.

But fate had other plans for Poppy that day. The stars aligned, and in a moment of pure kindness, two of our dedicated volunteers—along with a few compassionate strangers—sprang into action. With cars stopping and hearts racing, they worked together to save her from what could have been a tragic ending.

Frightened and unsure, Poppy darted under a parked truck, seeking shelter from the chaos. But her rescue angel wasn’t about to give up on her. Without hesitation, they crawled underneath to gently pull her to safety. And just in time—Poppy was not only dripping with milk but was about to give birth at any moment.

Thankfully, yet another set of angels stepped in, arranging a warm, safe place for Poppy to welcome her little ones into the world. And just two weeks later, her miracle arrived—eight perfect, wiggly puppies!

Now, Poppy and her babies are safe. Her little ones are healthy, growing, and ready to find families of their own. And sweet Poppy? She’s ready too. This incredible mama still has a journey ahead of her—she’s heartworm positive, but don’t let that stop you from opening your heart to her. All expenses for her treatment will be fully covered.

Poppy has spent her life taking care of others. Now, it’s time for someone to take care of her. She deserves a family who will love her, spoil her, and finally make her the center of attention. Could that be you? ❤️
